Hard links technology is the modern cool Microsoft technology. It's introduced in Windows 2000.
Hard links... What is it? It is technology which allows you to create additional references to your files. Why additional ones? That is because you have one primary reference to your file already. In any file system, introduced by Microsoft, files are stored in one place, captions of them in another place. Each caption have a one link to the file. In FAT file system each file can have only one link from only one file caption. But in NTFS each file can have additional links from up to 1024 file captions (in another words from directory entries). So if you have two equal files, there are no need to store both of them in one volume. You can replace one of them with hard link.
Using the benefits of hard links technology are key features of our Same Files Assistant program. Remember: You do not need to delete files, when you want to free some space on your disk. 10 percent of your files are equal. Let's convert them to hard links!
